About Erin West CD(DONA)...
Erin K. West CD(DONA)
I'm a certified doula with DONA International, and a mother of three children. I have been providing childbirth assistance since 2002, and have been certified in 2004. Helping women and their families during the birth experience is a passion, and I'm looking for this to be a growing career. I feel that birth is a life altering experience in a families life. Birth is self esteem booster! I feel that the day your child is born is not just one day in your life. This is one of the most important days of your life! The day that a women gives birth, is a day that she will always remember with great clarity. This is why I believe that it is important to have doula support at your births, doulas are able to keep your birthing days sacred. Ones that you will remember with joy and elation, and never regret.
Please contact me to set up an initial consultation. Feel free to ask questions about the labor support services I provide. I will send you a packet of materials that will be useful in helping you decide how to best utilize my services.
I can also provide you with names of other doulas so you can chose the one that is right for you. I feel that it is important as a good consumer to know what is available to you for doula in the area. A face to face meeting can help assure a good match. I can schedule an initial meeting with you and your partner. There is no cost for phone calls, consultation or initial packet.
The Services that are provided by myself are:
Two prenatal meetings, these are to discuss your needs and wants for your upcoming birth. These meetings are also great to learn about the techniques and positions that may be suggested during labor and delivery.
Support during labor and delivery, this is continuous physical, emotional, and informational support. I will be there to remind you of want you wanted for you birth experience. During labor and delivery, I make suggestions on positions and different relaxation techniques. I'm there also, to just remind you that your body knows how to birth your baby. My plan as a doula during this time is to empower you and your family to make the decisions that are right for you.
Support for the immediate two hours postpartum period, this time that will be used for breastfeeding support, to help with getting settled into the room you will be in for the duration of your hospital stay, or if you are having a home birth, this time will be used to help clean up and to help you and your family get settled. I will also help clear out well wishers so you and your new family have private time to bond.
Two postpartum visits, the first will be the next day, so we can just go over the highlights of the labor and delivery the day before. The second visit is either one week or two week postpartum, which ever is best for the family, this visit just checks to make sure everyone is settling into family life well, to make sure that breastfeeding is still going well. If there were to be a issue, then I'll refer mom to the expert that can help with that issue.
Six week phone consultation. At six weeks postpartum is the most common time when postpartum depression sets in, this phone consultation will check mom's well being, physical and emotional. A referral will be made if needed.
